
My 30 Day Awareness Challenge
In order to take our own healing journey to wholeness, we must first learn to tune into ourselves. In other words, we need to learn to be more self-aware. I will define this as being aware of your own body and the messages it has to share with you. I would consider myself as someone who has lots of practice tuning into the messages of my body. However, I realized that I have a hard time taking the time to tune in each day. While I believe that taking some time each day to meditate is a good thing to do, I don’t seem to want to make it a high enough priority to take the time for it.
I asked myself, how can I help others to learn to tune into their bodies if I won’t take the time to do it for myself? This is how the idea of a 30 day awareness challenge started. I am part way into it at this point, and it is quite the journey, and so worth taking. It is taking me on a journey to unexpected places, and I don’t know where I’ll end up. My challenge for myself is to choose some kind of awareness or mindfulness activity each day, then write about the experience. I invite you to join me as I take this journey. Maybe you will even want to try it for yourself! If you do, let me know about it. I’ll be sharing with you what I did, what effect it had on me, and what I learned.
Just one more thought. I have been exposed to meditation and have been guided through many meditations. In fact, I have several audio guided meditations from various people on my device. But I just don’t want to do it. Have any of you had the same experience? Have you ever asked yourself why you can’t seem to focus and do it right? Am I just defective? I have asked these questions to myself. Maybe it doesn’t reflect a defect in ourselves if we have had a hard time meditating, but that we need a different, more natural approach. One which follows our own likes and is in keeping with our natural way of moving about the world. Maybe we aren’t all as terribly defective and in need of serious reconstruction as we think we are. My intention with this challenge is to find a better way. To find my way. Maybe you can find your way too.
